What a trip down memory lane. I had many of these toys as a child but Tony the Pony was my all time favorite. My childhood friend and I still remember riding Tony the Pony round and round in my basement. It was such a treat to see a picture of it. I would love to make the trip out to your museum one day.
I owned a Disneyland Playset in 1961. I have been trying to learn if even a picture might exist of the set. Because Marx manufactured so many playsets, I wonder if you manufactured the one I am seeking. It included character figures and the Matterhorn. Hope you can help. Thanks, Belinda
What a great website! Congrats on a gorgeous baby girl. And an awesome name too...Maggie. Kendra & I recently welcomed a perfect little girl as well. Look for an e-mail featuring Allie Elizabeth Watts. I thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for your healthy little lady. Enjoy your new blessing. Sincerely, Casey, Kendra, & Allie Watts
I'm trying to find out how much an all state sears electric train set 9625 from the 1950-1960 by the louis marx company in New York in mint condition would go for now.
The online museum is Super. Seeing some of the toys from my childhood brings back the fondest of memories. but I did not see any Marx toy trains. I still have some of mine and they still run. Is there any websites out there where I can see these toy trains? Regards, Tom B.
Wow! I had a lot of these toys as a kid, in fact, I think most of the kids in the 'hood had at least one Marx toy.
What a wonderful tribute to Louis Marx, his company, his co-workers, and, of course, his unbelievable legacy of toys...His playsets practically define the generation of the "Baby-Boomers"...The quality of the work that you have done to keep the memories alive for many generations to come is terrific, to say the least...I am sure that it has been a true "labor of love" all along...I think that Mr. Marx would certainly be very proud of the Marx Toy Museum, as well as the respect and admiration for him and his toys that you have so wonderfully helped to preserve and sustain...Thank you so very much!!!
The website is rather interesting. I would like information on U. S. Navy sailors that are powder blue in color. Even in the 1960s, I never saw them in stores. I only saw them under Christmas trees or in a fellow classmate's display.
Love the website. I just acquired a Dodge City that I am doing research on to find out if it was the Wyatt Earp or the Gunsmoke. I did not receive the figures with the city so I don't know if you will be able to identify without them. I am going to keep searching and have really enjoyed reading the Marx history you are sharing. Thanks, Carol
This is such a cool website! Do you have any pictures of the toys?
great site although i would like to see a section just on dollhouses
Hello and many greetings from Germany. Nevertheless, calls in sometimes on us, there is a lot to see, on our web page it is about RC Monstertrucks, we have own projects, and good videos, and about an entry in our visitors' book we would be also glad very much, Armin, www.rc-monsterdriver.de
In 1962 at the age of 6 I purchased a Fred and Barney walking toy about 3inches in height with an eye for a pull along string. It was stolen from me in 1968 and I want to replace it.I bought it on holiday in Wales and loved it so much. Fred had a stamp on one of his arms. I would love another one please.

Hi This Is Sergio Marx figure Master collector in Italy...You Museum Is FANTASTIC!!!!! and You are very good and nice persons! Take care friens My Best REgards Sergio CECCA
A great website. I hope the museum is just as good. Sounds like a nice summer day trip. Only I wish you were open on Sundays.
I grew up south of Glen Dale in New Martinsville, WV & probably had almost every toy Marx produced during the 1960s for boys. Visiting this site brought back a lot of great memories! I now live in China & occasionally visit the city of Shantou where the majority of the world's toys are now made. Next time I pass through there & dine with one of my vendors, I'll be sure to toast Louis Marx for what he did for the American toy industry so many years ago.
My wife and I travel through that area to visit my mother in Paden City, WV. We are going to make it an appoint to stop in sometime so that our 3 kids can see your museum. Your website it great! It was very informational and we will make sure we stop in on our next trip to my mothers.
After taking the museum online tour,I noticed many toys of which I played with as a youngster. I wish I still had them. The tour bought back many memories. Steven Arthur Sellers
Thank you for taking the time to give attention to these wonderful toys of the past, particularly the playsets. I am 54 now and had Fort Mohawk, Blue vs. Gray, Cape Canaveral, Medieval Knights and Battleground. These sets with the little paper bags labeled for each item were something that was just unbelievable to open as a child. I'll never forget them. Opening these gave me some of the happiest times of my childhood.
thanks for the memories. Your article appeared in our local paper this past wknd so I thought I'd chk it out. Fantastic! I had the Barn set, the Army set and the Car Garage. Brought tears to my eyes as it conjured up thoughts of much simpler (and relaxed) times
i went to this place and i loved it!!! it was amazing!!! only thing was that the blue bomber for the rock em sock em robots that people could play with on the table's head wouldnnt go down which makes the game somewhat useless but still real cool to look and and try out!
Thank you for the tour. Time well spent. Also must say what a great idea and a fine tribute to the employees who gave us such treasures! Recently, the treasures of the Irwin toy company became available in my area. I could have only wished that they were all kept together to honor that company as well.
Great article in the Travel section of The Philadelphia Inquirer dated 20July2008. Can't wait to get down there to see the museum.
I was disappointed in the gift shop which only has two art prints for sale. I would like to see a lot more, especially catalogs containing all products for certain time frames and possibly reproductions of vintage (40-50s)toys and sets made by Marx.
I have what is probably a 1960 ish vintage Marx electric train hand car. At the present time it does not work, and one of the arms is missing. I am hoping to get it running as well as possibly finding some replacement parts for it. Any info will be very helpful and appriciated. Thanks STEVE Leave info on WEB site if possible
I love Marx toys; Have a few of the old ones but love them all.Looking forward to next years sale ...Do you send out any info on such?Thanking you for this website....Thanks D.Malet at d.malet@cable one.net
Great to see pictures of many of the toys I had when I was young. Brought back a lot of great memories of spending the day playing with the West series and the Knights. Also still remember playing with the Fort Apachie Carry-all.
I have been a "fan" of Marx playsets since 1950. I have had most of the sets and stillhave the Ben Hur in the original box! My kids and grandkids have played with my collection. I am a pack rat and have most of the toys I layed with "back in the day". I have a ton of memories of playing with the Army Navy playset, Roy Rogers, Fort apche, tom Corbett, Captain gallant, Knights and castle, etc etc etc. I had tried months ago to locate Marx and couldn't find you. Then in the Charlotte Observer there was this article last weekend and 'here I am" . I will definitely be making a visit to the museum....soon!!
I enjoyed the tour very much, Thank you for making this possible. I some day hope to visit the museum in person. I hear wonderful things about the Turners and all they do [via the Circle X Ranch]I hope to be part of the Wheeling convention some day. Long live Johnny West! Pamela Schimmelpfennig 2008
The Marx Giant Blue and Grey Battle Set was my all time favorite toy! I still have much of the original set. I would love to find a complete mint-in-the-box set. Do you think that one still exists?
We visited the museum on wed sept,3,2008. We really enjoyed the tour and my son loved looking at the old trucks and the different playsets.I enjoyed the 50's cafe i collect coke stuff. We really enjoyed our visit and I also loved being in Brad Paisley's hometown, I am a big fan.
I thnk this website is amazing.I thought it was so cool that is going to be my theme of my bedroom.thanks for the idea
I was checking on what happened to Marx toys. Now I see its a sad story; no one could succeed him. We have a similar story here. In Charlestown, a couple miles away there was this big candy factory, Schrafft's. It survived the Great Depression, too. I heard the workers had good jobs there. But modern times got it, too. The Flatley Co. did restore the building for office space, and the sign is still there, as well as working clocks on all four sides. I hope something equally good has happened with the old factory. American industry isn't what is used to be, sorry to say. I'm glad there's good people out there who want to preserve a quieter America that many of us remember from our youth. Great pix of Americana on your site. If you're ever up in our neck of the woods, please patronize some of the diners we still have extant in the area.
I have an original, in box, farm machinery tractor sales and service play set, in great condition. I am preparing to sell this on ebay but thought you might like to have it in your collection. prettygoodcars@aol.com let me know soonest
Hi, After seeing your Website, I've decided to take a trip to visit you this week (week of October 6)g. I'm selling off an estate for a toy collector on eBay, and I've sold quite a few Marx toys. I've become a major fan of Marx. In fact, you've bid on at least one of the items I've listed on eBay(cherokeebrave88). Looking forward to seeing you this week. Bob Eich
What a neat place...I am making it a point to come see the museum. I had forgotten how many terrific childhood memories were directly attributed to Marx toys....I had almost every one of the 'boy's toys'. My eleven year old heart broke when my drunk grandfather ran over Great Garloo in our driveway with his 59' Plymouth. When I turned 50, my dad gave me a great garloo he found at a flea market - it still worked!!
I have so many fond memories of Marx toys especially the Johnny West series. I think I had every one of them. I wish I had kept a few for my own children. Toys are not the same these days. Thank you for creating this shrine dedicated to a much simpler time in this country's history.
Let me begin by saying that if I would have learned about your museum, I would have visited your website sooner! And I would also like to take this opportunity to tell you that it also brought back many fond memories of my childhood; and needless to say that it is very unfortunate that they do not make toys like that anymore. Summing up, I would also like to say that even though my childhood has long since passed on the memories of my childhood will remain with me for many years to come; and it is because of a website like yours that it will keep the memories of my childhood alive for a long time to come. By the way, I once owned a "Johnny West" action figure and I also owned his horse, "Flame." Keep up the good work and I will visit this website again real soon. Sincerely, Mr. Joseph Puig
Totally lovely, brings me back to my child hood and I wish that your doll house, electric stove, washing machine, sink and fridge were still available to buy for our grand kids !
hope to get there someday
