Like many of you, as a child growing up in the 70's I played with my share of Marx Toys, never realizing the long term value, both sentimental and monetary of these playthings. My Marx toys are long gone, but thanks to your museum the memories will live forever. My husband was a long time employee of Marx during the 1970's and was there when the plant closed down. It is comforting to know he had a hand in producing the toys that I enjoyed so much. His name is John "PZ" Winters, and he has many memories of his time at the Marx plant. Bless you and good luck with the museum.

I have loved the Johnny West toys ever since I was a kid. My grandfather would take me to a King's True Value store of all places to buy them for me. I remember just like it was yesterday. The toys were kept down in the basement and one whole wall was all the Best of the West figures. I loved them then and I love them now. I hope to one day visit your museum. It looks wonderful. I have talked with Tom Heaton various times over my years of collecting and he is truly one of the leaders in the Vintage Marx Community. Keep up the great work. James

Hello all, what a blast from the past, however, do you also have any of the "Girls" toys (i.e. the Vanity or the Buffet)? I had the vanity with the Styrofoam seat and always wanted the Buffet. I have started to collect the tin litho doll houses (and actually obtained one of them when I pruchased my country home and found one in the attic). Thank you, Robin Kizis East Branch, NY rkizis1@frontiernet.net

My Grandma used to work for Marx Toys and I have three of the blue plastic Disney figurines that she personally made while there. My Dad told me about the museum and that you have some pictures with my Grandma in them. I plan on making a visit to the museum as soon as possible. Thank you for making it possible for so many people to relive memories. God Bless!

I came across an article by Tim Forbes in American Heritage magazine, and there was a full color photograph of the Blue and Grey Battle Set. I wanted to cry. As a boy in the early 60's, I collected the Civil War, Alamo, Fort Apache, and WWII box sets. I spent countless hours designing battle scenes. These were my favorite "toys" of all time. It has been many years since I've even seen them. My misguided mother threw them all out after I became a teenager. I found your website surfing through Google and Marx toys. I just want to thank you for sharing the wonderful photographs of my old friends. Of couse, now I want to find the Civil War and Alamo sets to own once again, so wish me luck. Next time I am traveling across the country, I will be sure to stop by your fantastic museum. Thanks again for the wonderful memories. A 52 year old boy

Just dropping you a thanks for putting this together. I came upon it while doing some research on Marx Dollhouses. My wife was a child model for a Marx Dollhouse when she was about 6 years old. I am having some difficulty in locating one to give to her as a gift. I part of the box with her picture on it, but would like to get the hole box and dollhouse in reasonable condition.....maybe! Since Pittsburgh is not that far, I thought I might take a ride to see the Museum soon. I think our kids would think it was cool to see the toys that Mom and Dad played with when we were their age. My son would probably think it was stupid, "Where is the game plug, remote control, or special effects?" Kids have lost the imagination that we had. Anyway thanks.

I just found out about the museum and couldn't be more excited. I'm planning to make a trip in April to enjoy a coke and check out the toys. I've been a toy collector for a long time and recognized some of the toys in the pictures. They bring back memories for not only me but my grown son also. He still has his western toys. Can't wait to see everything.

We visited this wonderful museum on May 6, 2006. What a treat it is to any Marx fans! The staff is very informative and helpful. Mr. Turner, himself came into the museum and shared his wealth of knowledge with us. We ended up spending about 3 hours there and had pictures taken with Mr. Turner in front of his replica western town. If you are at all a Marx fan and considering visiting this terrific place - by all means GO! You will enjoy every moment! Thanks again for keeping these memories fresh!

I was thrilled with your website. WOW, it took me back to the early six- ties when I was a boy growing up in the Bronx. I was the owner of MOON BASE, My favorite playset, I also had the Untouchables. I had other toys like the flintstones, Top Cat cartoons figures! Sorry to say, we moved and I had to throw them all out.If I am not wrong, the playsets we Ten dollars each. My father worked for the city and earned $59 a week. He thought they were a waste of money. We lived near Yankee Statium and he thought it was a waste of money to watch a baseball game when you could see it on T.V. Thank you for the great memories.

Francis Sigler 'Junior' was my grandfather, and Betty my grandmother. It was nice to see my Grandfather in the pics, he was always happy when he talked about his years at Marx. I appreciate the article and the kind words about my Granparents. Grandma always did have a hard time tying my shoes when I was little due to her missing part of her index finger (just a fun family fact). Thanks again. -Tracy

I'm coming "home" for a visit and am so excited to be able to come and see the museum! I grew up in Moundsville and my Grandmother used to paint the horses and Big Wheels for Marx Toy Factory. I might just see a horse or Big Wheel that she touched when I visit --- she's been gone now for over 22 years. Thanks for what you do.

Thank you for the warm memories as I went through your site. My father Alfred "Chief" Jimerson (the only American Indian working at the shop back then) worked at Marx in Erie, Pa for 20 years. My parents met because my mom would be hanging laundry in her back yard that faced the shop windows where my dad would be smiling at her. I have so many fond memories of Marx aka Monkey Works since the factory made those monkies with the red/white checked pants. Dad died when he was 48. Most of his friends who worked with him have since passed on, however I recall how much fun it was to go see Daddy at work. My father encouraged me to become a machinist saying there would always be a job for me. I traded in my machinist certification to become a social worker. The only toy I still have from back then is my Sam Cobra. Funny how I ended up with this only because my family could not afford to buy me a Ken doll! My parents always said how Marx did not pay much, but the fun made up for it. Thank you, Dolores

My Wife, Ilse and I visited the museum in September, 2004 while attending my 50th High School reunion from Moundsville High School. We enjoyed our visit very much and it brought back a lot of old memories. My Uncle Ed Burton worked at the Glen Dale plant as long as I can remember until they closed. He used to bring me and my sister toys from there and when we returned from Army duty in Germany in 1966 he gave my daughter a doll house from Marx for Christmas. I guess there is a flea market occupying the place now. Wish Lois Marx was still around, I know he brought a lot of joy to a whole lot of kids. Jim & Ilse Mason

I didn't know something like this existed. This is wonderful. I wish you would show more upclose pictures of the Farm Sets though. I had one when I was a kid and one day when I was in my 20's my mom cleaned out the attic and the set was gone forever. I begged her to hunt down the person that helped her, and I did get just the barn back. I'm 49 now and I still love my barn. I miss the animals & plants! The Farm Set left a lasting impression. I've always wanted to marry a farmer... I wish I would have known about your sale but I'm disabled and would not have been able to come to w.va anyway. but maybe I could have got some animals for my barn. Oh well. Keep up the good work and MORE PHOTOS! Photos of everything! Please!
